A hollow construction that gives the appearance of a solid piece of metal, this hollow form pendant is light to wear and certainly a one-off! Formed from sterling silver sheet, the pendant is created by forming a free-form shaped frame which is then soldered to pieces of flat silver sheet on either side to form a hollow piece. A further frame in the centre adds the hole. Three holes are added to the inner frame to allow any hot air to escape from the centre of the pendant during soldering. The sheet metal is then trimmed to reveal the shape.
The front of the pendant is decorated by etching a spotty design onto the silver and a small handmade silver heart was added as a cute finishing touch. The back and sides of the pendant are plain silver polished to a satin finish. The silver has been oxidized with liver of sulphur to give the pendant an antique look and highlight the etched design.
The pendant hangs from an 18 inch sterling silver chain which is also oxidized. The pendant measures just over 1 inch/28mm from top to bottom including the bail. The width of the pendant is 0.75 inches/20mm and the depth is 6mm.
